Programme of the 33rd FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF MOUNTAINS

From 19 to 25 July, Nowy Sącz will host the 33rd edition of the International Festival of Children’s Folk Ensembles FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF THE MOUNTAINS. We invite you to one of the most colourful and recognisable folklore festivals in Poland, which we have been organising since 1992 as the SOKÓŁ Małopolska Cultural Centre – a cultural institution of the Małopolska Voivodeship.

EXHIBITION „Wspaniałe druty II”

FESTIVAL WORKSHOPS 
  • LITTLE ARCHAEOLOGIST – we will make clay pots and figurines modelled on ancient artefacts, whilst discovering everyday mysteries of life in prehistoric times.
  • BECOME A CHEERLEADER – we will enter the dynamic world of competitive cheerleading, learning basic dance steps, gymnastics and acrobatics under the guidance of a professional coach.
  • THE PRICKLY GUY – we will learn about the fascinating habits of these beneficial animals - hedgehogs; we will make our own creative figurines of this year’s festival mascot.
  • TIME CAPSULE – we will prepare decorative containers in which to put personal mementos and everyday objects for future generations.
  • AT THE FLORIST’S – we will take on the roles of florists to create beautiful, long-lasting floral decorations from carton trays.
  • BIRD’S WARBLES – we will paint traditional clay birds, which - when filled with water - will produce true and cheerful bird-like warbles.
  • STICK PUPPETS ARE AMONG US – we will use wooden sticks, haberdashery and coloured wool to create unique theatre puppets, which we will then use to bring our home puppet theatre to life.
  • SUN CATCHER – we will give CDs and DVDs a new lease of life by turning them into sparkling, light-reflecting decorations for your home or garden.
  • AT THE CHURCH FAIR – we will set off on a journey into the world of ancient traditions, and make our own unique, historical toys and church fair souvenirs out of crêpe paper and cardboard.
  • WALKING DANCE OR POLONAISE? – we will learn the solemn steps of the polonaise and the walking dance, both set to a 3/4 time signature, whilst exploring the differences and shared roots of these traditional dances.

Admission is free to forenoon performances in MCK SOKÓŁ Yard, concerts in the region, concert of the „World Music” bands and the exhibition.

Free admission to festival workshops, prior online booking required starting 6 July at 12:00 pm.

WRISTBANDS

Tickets purchased online and from ticket machines, as well as invitations, must be exchanged for wristbands:

  • on the day of the inaugural concert (19 July) and on the day of the final concert (25 July) at the ticket office next to the open-air stage in the Old Market Square,
  • on the national days (20-24 July) at the MOSiR Multi-Purpose Hall ticket office.
  • The tickets purchased at the MCK SOKÓŁ ticket office, at the MOSiR Multi-Purpose Hall ticket office, and at the ticket office at the open-air stage in the Old Market Square will be issued immediately in the form of wristbands. 
For each Festival day we have prepared a different colour of the wristbands:


 

PRIZE COMPETITIONS

On the national days, from Monday to Friday (20-24 July), the main evening concerts will be concluded with COMPETITIONS WITH PRIZES funded by the sponsors of the 33rd FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF MOUNTAINS! The wristbands for these days have vouchers that you can place in a glass bowl at the entrance to the Amphitheatre :-)
