ARGINETI

Edition 2026
The space is the Khulo region, situated in the heart of mountainous Adjara, at an altitude of around 1,000 metres above sea level - one of the most important centres of the traditional Adjarian culture. The region has preserved its distinctive folk costumes, wooden architecture, polyphonic songs, ancient crafts as well as customs passed down from generation to generation. The members of ARGINETI Children’s Choreographic Ensemble, founded at the Culture Centre in Khulo in 2010, are representatives of the youngest generation.
The ensemble’s history is - one might say - a string of triumphs. As early as 2013, its members won the first prize at the Children’s Folklore Olympics organised by the Ministry of Culture of Adjara. The following years brought further accolades – the first prize in 2017, and the Grand Prix in 2019. ARGINETI has successfully represented Georgia at international festivals in Turkey, the Czech Republic, Spain, Bulgaria, Armenia, Italy and Moldova, winning the acclaim of audiences and juries alike.

The ARGINETI ensemble will fill the space and time of its programme with Georgian dancing folklore, showcasing the traditions of various regions: from mountainous Adjara to Kazbegi, Tusheti and Racha. In the dynamic, lyrical and emotionally charged choreographic acts, we will have an opportunity to see, among others, the joyful and even comical gandagana; khorumi depicting the successive stages of preparation for a battle as well as the course of the battle itself; such mountain dances as mtiuluri, kazbeguri and tushuri; the elegant couple’s dance kartuli, expressing respect and harmony between a man and a woman; and rachuli, reflecting the region’s warm and festive culture.
