Zasadne is a picturesque village of 650 inhabitants; it is located at the foot of Mount Gorc, one of the highest peaks in the Gorce mountain range. Zasadne is located within the Commune of Kamienica, Limanowa County. It stretches along the valley of the Zasande stream, which flows into the Kamienica River, which in turn is the natural borderline between the Gorce mountain range and the Wyspowy Beskids. ZASADNIOKI Children’s Folk Ensemble was established at the Primary School in Zasadne in 2004. It presents songs, dances, clothes, the dialect, games and pastime peculiar to highland children of the Łacko and Kamienica region. Every year the ensemble graces school and commune events with its performances, and takes part in festivals and reviews. It numbers 45 members aged 7-15.
At the Festival ZASADNIOKI will present a programme entitled “In a clearing by the forest”, which is a meeting place for the children coming back from a mushroom-picking outing. They are soon joined by girls, who have been picking dog-rose hips and blackthorn drupes. The playing girls are then met by boys, who have been picking brushwood. They all begin bantering over who has done a better job; competition follows – a tug-of-war, and then joint merrymaking and dancing. At first the children are accompanied by one of the boys, later on some musicians arrive.
Bożena Gierczyk is the ensemble leader and choreographer, and Mirosław Gorczowski is the musical band leader.
