JAMBO KIDS PRODUCTION

Edition 2023
JAMBO KIDS PRODUCTION MUSIC AND DANCE GROUP are coming to visit us from Kenya. Next to Australia, Africa is the continent that has the least often sent ensembles in to participate in the FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF MOUNTAINS. However, it is hard to imagine the 30th edition of the Festival without an African ensemble.
For the ensemble, which was founded in 2011 in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, this will be a special event too: the first international festival they will be participating in.

What’s behind the program's mysterious title: “Ngoma Kikwetu”? The children from Kenya are going to present an authentic performance. They will show how their community celebrates its most important events. That is, we will actually have an opportunity to watch the life of a Kenyan tribe, on the stage of the Nowy Sącz amphitheatre. As a rule, these will be events bringing the joy of life’s most beautiful moments.

And so, we will see the dance accompanying the ceremonial walking of the groom and bride during the wedding ceremony, as well as the children’s dance performed during the wedding reception. And then we will rejoice in the events that are usually a consequence of weddings. We will see a dance performed to celebrate the birth of a child, and a performance put on by children when a boy is born. Like in a film frame, when zooming out, we will then see the entire community giving thanks, through the medium of a dance, for a successful harvest, and a cultural dance aimed at uniting the tribe.

However, life, after all, is not a bed of roses only. Therefore, the African children will also show us a dance, performed by the Baganda community, which was created to draw attention to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
