DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY

Edition 2023
For more than two decades the DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY in Ahmadabad, in the ethnographic region of Gujarat, has been teaching young students the art of dance. During this time, more than five thousand children have been acquainted with the intricate secrets of cultural, authentic, style and folk dances. The folk and cultural style of dancing became especially important for DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY in 2009, when they became a member of the Indian section of the CIOFF. Thanks to the Academy, and in fact owing to the Academy only, the whole world can get to know the children’s version of the Indian traditions.
The world culture offers a kind of songs that were born out of hard work. These are, on the one hand, sea shanties, on the other hand, blues, which (like the opera Nabucco) would not have been created if there had been no black slave community. The Indian folk dance tippani has similar roots. It originated among labourers (e.g. the Koli people) doing the proverbial hardest work - second only to teaching other people’s children: they would break rocks, and level the ground. In their scant free time they would dance to defend themselves from monotony, and find some respite from everyday life. This is how the non-trivial dance of tippani was created.

Another dance that the Festival audience will have an opportunity to become acquainted with, thanks to the ensemble from Ahmadabad, will be garba, a dance from the Gujarat region. Here, there will be some mysterious terms related to the traditional dress: chaniya choli, kafni with ghagra, and pagani. We will let the stage presenters, during the national day evening concert of the DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY ensemble, decipher them.

There will also be games: four eggs, seven plates, and more. The audience will be able to hear such instruments as manjira, tabla and dhol.
