BANDOSKA

Edition 2016
“Bandoska” Song and Dance Ensemble was established at the Province Cultural Centre in 1950 in Rzeszów. Ethnically, the Rzeszów Region is not homogeneous, and as such can be divided into three subregions of the Rzeszów people, Lasowiaks and Foothills dwellers. The ensemble’s repertoire is composed of national dances, regional dances (in particular, from the environs of Rzeszów), as well as dances of other nations and dancing scenes. The ensemble comprises two children’s groups, an adolescent group, a representative group, a seniors’ group, a folk musical band and a singing group – 120 members in total.
At the Festival “Bandoska” will present a scenic image entitled “Carry me, my horse, carry me” which will feature folklore from the Rzeszów region, including children’s games, songs, dances and music performed by a band with a traditional Rzeszów-style composition. The symbol of the eponymous horse-drawn carriage provides the setting for the performers “wandering” around the villages of the region, initiating the audience into typical songs and ditties. For the children the stage meadow is a place where they can meet both younger and older friends, but also adults – in this case the musicians and the sounds of their instruments.
The band will be playing violins, a dulcimer, a double bass and a clarinet.
Karol Mrzygłód is the ensemble leader; Antoni Wołczko, Roman Malkiewicz and Karol Mrzygłód are the choreographers, and Tomasz Pyzik is the band leader.
