The ensemble ALUNELUL was founded in 2000 and has been operating at the “Prometeu-Prim” High School of Creativity and Inventiveness in the Moldovan capital city of Chișinău. During its entire activity ALUNELUL has created its own repertoire that includes popular authentic dances from various ethnic regions of the country. At present, the ensemble brings together 32 children aged 9-14. ALUNELUL has been a laureate of the republican folk festival “La vatra horelor”, as well as was awarded the 1st and 2nd prize at the municipal festival “La fântâna dorului”(2003, 2004, 2005, 2007-2015).
ALUNELUL has participated in many international folk festivals, e.g. in Turkey, Romania, France, Poland, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy and Belarus.
The ensemble is famous for its extraordinary interpretative skills, a variety and originality of dances, as well as colourful national clothes. At the Festival its members will perform such dances as hora de la sud, bulgareasca, batraneasca, sapte pasi, hora mare and zis-a badea. The musical band, headed by Adam Veaceslav, will be playing such instruments as the panpipes, accordion, drum and clarinet. Constantin Schiopu is the ensemble leader, artistic director and choreographer.
