Governor of the Małopolska Province honorary patron of the Festival

We are very happy to inform you that the Governor of the Małopolska Province - Witold Kozłowski has accepted the honorary patronage over the 28th International Festival of Children's Folk Ensembles FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF MOUNTAINS.
Below we include a letter from the Marshal addressed to all the Friends of the Festival.

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

In 2019, when Małopolska was hosting the ensembles participating in the 27th International Festival of Children’s Folk Ensembles FESTIVAL OF THE CHILDREN OF MOUNTAINS, nobody could predict that the next edition of this extraordinary event would take place no sooner than in two years’ time. The coronavirus pandemic turned the calendar of folk culture events upside down. The bulk of holiday-time events were limited or cancelled. Unfortunately, one of them was the 28th Festival of the Children of Mountains.

This year’s edition of the Festival is different than the previous ones. It is nevertheless my great pleasure to be able to invite you to take part in it. As always, children’s folklore will reign supreme in Małopolska. It is going to be a unique, one of a kind, and - hopefully - the last pandemic Festival. The idea behind the Festival of the Children of Mountains is to bring together Polish and foreign ensembles in the so-called comrade pairs that perform, play and relax together throughout the Festival week. Thus, language and culture barriers disappear. Their place is taken by language of child’s imagination and play typical of all young people, and long-standing friendships are forged.

This year, by way of exception, foreign ensembles will meet us only via cyberspace. In this way they will convey their message, presenting their colourful and exotic programmes. The town of Nowy Sącz will, however, be visited by ensembles representing different regions of Poland. And so let me take this opportunity to invite you to the concert inaugurating the Festival of the Children of Mountains, which will take place in a new venue - an amphitheatre in a picturesque park in Nowy Sącz - a place that will become the permanent setting for the Festival performances from now on. I believe that despite their non-standard form, the Festival concerts and attendant events will jog your memory about one of the most important cultural events in Małopolska.

Let me also invite you to visit the website of the Festival organizer - SOKÓŁ Małopolska Culture Centre in Nowy Sącz, and to take part in the common festivities and fun.

Best regards,
Witold Kozłowski
Governor of the Małopolska Province
