The ensemble Kulturno Umetničko Društvo “SLOBODA” comes from the village of Rumenka, located within the municipality of Novi Sad, the second largest city in Serbia and the capital of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The city of Novi Sad is frequently referred to as Srpska Atina, which means the “Serbian Athens.” The ensemble was established 35 years ago and during its constant operation thousands of dancers have passed through it. Today, the ensemble numbers 250 members arranged in 9 sections. The dancing group performing at the Festival will be composed of 32 children aged 10-14. So far they have performed in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Romania, Montenegro Austria and Hungary.
At the Festival the ensemble will perform a medley of playful dances such as igre iz okoline Užica, igre iz okoline Beograda, igre iz Dimitrovgrada, igre iz Bele Krajine, igre iz Gruže, igre iz Kumanovskog polja.
Marko Mandarić and Dragan Milivojević are the choreographers. The ensemble will be accompanied by the Orkestar Braće Martić, who will be playing such instruments as the accordion, tapan (a kind of drum), the violin, the flute and the double bass. Momir Mišković is the ensemble leader, and Branislav Martić is the band leader.
