DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY

Edition 2020/2021
The ensemble comes from Ahmedabad, the largest city and historical capital of Gujarat, the state located in the north-western part of India, where Gujarati is the official language. The state of Gujarat boasts resilient commerce and industry, and is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. It is also steeped in history and tradition. It was here that the independence movement against the British rule originated. Mohandas Gandhi, who preached the doctrine of ‘civil disobedience’ and was later on called ‘the father of India,” was a native Gujarati. The ensemble has its seat in the district of Bapunagar, whose name is derived from the word „bapu” (‘father’) popularly used to refer to Gandhi. The DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY School was established in 2002, and currently numbers almost 5,000 graduates. It teaches a variety of dance styles, ranging from traditional to contemporary ones, which are, however, always characterized by elements of the local culture. Through the agency of dance, the ACADEMY teachers aim to instil moral values in the children, and to help them with setting life goals and acquiring knowledge about tradition, ancient customs, rituals and religion. Since 2009 DYNAMICE CHILDREN ACADEMY has been a member of CIOFF, and as such has been delegated to present the Indian culture, as rendered by children, in the following countries: Cyprus, Poland, the Netherlands, France, the UK, Canada. The ensemble will present the following traditional Indian dances: „garba” (a popular dance from Gujarat, performed during the autumn festival of Navaratri in honour of the Hindu deity Durga), „raas” (a vibrant dance with sticks, symbolizing the fight between Durga and the demon Mahishasura), „tippani” (a labourers’ dance whose name derives from the tool used for beating and pressing lime into the household dirt floor). The dancers are accompanied by a singing group and musicians playing such instruments as „dhol”, „table”, „khanjari”, a melodeon and „kartal”. Tirathkumar Trivedi is the ensemble leader and choreographer, and Jayveer Jadeja is the musical director.
